Women's Water Polo Qualification Tournament held in Italy

(BEIJING, Feb. 18) -- Olympic Games Women's Water Polo Qualification Tournament was held on February 17 in Imperia, Italy. In the opening match, GER won over BRA with a score of 11-7, while the host nation Italy tied Russia with 7-7.

The opening match was between Germany and Brazil. German team took the lead in the first round with a score of 5-2, and won the competition with 11-7. In group B, Greek won Puerto Rico with a score of 15-6.

The third competition was between Spain and Kazakhstan in group B. The scores of four rounds were 2-2, 4-4, 2-1, and 5-2 respectively, and the winner was obtained by Spain with a score of 13-9. Portugal won an overwhelming victory in the competition against Czech with a score of 22-1. In group A, Italy tied Russia with a score of 7-7. The scores of four rounds were 3-2, 1-2, 2-2, and 1-1 respectively. Group B's Cuba failed in the competition with Canada. The scores were 1-2, 2-4, 1-2 and 1-1.

After the first round of the preliminary, Germany ranked first in group A, followed by Greece. In group B, Hungary ranked first, while Spain and Canada ranked second and third respectively.
