
(BEIJING, Feb. 25) -- The Olympic Games Women's Water Polo Qualification Tournament closed on February 24 in Imperia, Italy. Italy won the gold with a score of 10-9 in the competition against Russia. Hungary stood third.
In the final, after four rounds of competition, Hungary tied with Greece 9-9. During the overtime, Hungary finally won the game with a score of 2-1 and took the bronze with a total score of 11-10. Host nation Italy took the gold through fierce competition with Russia with scores of 3-1, 5-5, 6-6, and 4-3.
Italy, Russia, Hungary and Greece have qualified for the women's water polo competition in the Beijing Olympics. The four other teams entering the Olympics are Holland, China, USA and Australia.
